SWAT teams descend on Sonic restaurant in Nebraska after a vehicle burst into flames outside – Daily Mail

Multiple people have been injured and one person has been arrested following an active shooting and explosion at a Sonic restaurant in Nebraska as flames engulfed a vehicle outside. 

In a media briefing Sgt. Andy Jashinske with Bellevue Police said the bomb squad is at the scene as of 12.30am Sunday and checking for more potential devices after the blast inside a U-Haul outside the eatery. 

‘There was a truck with some fireworks or some type of device,’ he said. 

He said one person is in custody and they are not actively searching for anyone else. The gunman was not identified.

‘At this point, we are not actively looking for additional individuals involved, but I can’t rule that out,’ he added. 

Several people are injured but he failed to provide details on their conditions. 

Emergency crews responded to the Sonic in the 1300 block of Cornhusker Road in Bellevue around 9.23pm Saturday.

A SWAT team swooped in as more then 20 law enforcement vehicles reportedly responded to the scene along with six ambulances.  

Bellevue Police tweeted: ‘A large police presence for an active investigation near 15th and Cornhusker. AVOID THE AREA. MORE UPDATES TO FOLLOW.’
